Over 500 local people and visitors to the area braved the severe weather to enjoy a packed programme, including the traditional Pipe Band and Heavyweight competitions, alongside a range of craft stalls, community groups, refreshment stands and attractions, as well as a Children’s Marquee complete with workshops and entertainers.
Due to the heavy rain, the West of Scotland Junior Highland Dance Championship was moved indoors to the nearby Gamble Halls, but the pipers and heavyweight athletes remained at the park to entertain spectators.

This year’s event had a royal flavour to reflect the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, with the Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, Mr Guy Clark presiding as Chieftain of the games.
Commenting on the day, he said: “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and talking to a few of the brave participants. Well done to all and despite the weather it was indeed evident to me how much work had gone into the arrangements. It was a pleasure to be there.”
